Imperial Airways. The airline launched its first domestic passenger flight from Bombay to Trivandrum in 1938 and renamed itself Tata Airlines. Post-independence, the Government of India initially bought a 49% stake in 1948 and eventually a majority stake in 1953, nationalizing the airline. In 1960, the airline got its first Boeing 707, making it the first Asian airline to enter the Jet Age, and in 1962, the world\'s first all-jet airline. It joined the Star Alliance group in 2014 as its 27th member.
